Feeding senior dogs doesn't have to be complicated. You can continue to prepare your senior dog food yourself while still catering to their special needs.
If the home-cooked dog food or the senior-friendly BARF diet comes from your own kitchen, the Vitamin Optimix Senior supplement for dogs will add the missing minerals and vitamins. Senior dogs have an increased need for zinc, B vitamins, and vitamin E. Additionally, adding cooked carbohydrates is recommended to reduce protein intake.

The amounts are guidelines only. Actual needs depend on age, breed, and activity level. Please always provide your pet with plenty of drinking water.
Energy requirements can vary depending on the age, breed and activity of your animal and may require different amounts of food.
Cook the carbohydrates until very soft.
Please weigh the meat and fish raw, then feed them fried or cooked. The portion of offal can be up to 30% of the specified meat quantity. Due to its high vitamin A content, liver should be fed at a maximum of 10 g per 10 kg of dog. Feeding bones and offal is not necessary with this feeding plan, but is possible. The bone portion should not exceed 5% of the total ration.
Vegetables and fruits can be fed raw (finely grated/pureed) or cooked. Please avoid onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, and avocados.
To provide essential fatty acids, a mixture of 80% linoleic acid-rich oil (e.g., sunflower, safflower, hemp oil) combined with 20% omega-3 fatty acid-rich oil (e.g., fish oil, algae oil) is effective. One teaspoon of oil corresponds to approximately 4 g.
Initially, add a small amount of the mineral powder to the feed and then increase to the target amount over 4-5 days. Do not heat the powder; mix it into the cooled feed. Always add the mineral powder fresh to the feed. One level scoop corresponds to approximately 3.5 g.
